When new patients join the Practice, we like to meet them. To help us give full medical care, we ask you to fill in a health questionnaire before you come for your appointment as it may take some time for us to receive your medical record. At the appointment the practice nurse will carry out brief medical checks and discuss any medications you take, or any health problems you may have. If you have medication which is on a repeat prescription, you will also need an appointment with the doctor so that this can be arranged. A copy of your repeat medication from your previous doctor's practice would be helpful. Please contact reception for further information.
When you attend for your new patient check with the nurse, you can collect the details for online access from reception. This will enable you to order repeat medication, book and cancel appointments and view medical information online for your convenience.
These fact sheets have been written to explain the role of UK health services, the National Health Service (NHS), to newly-arrived individuals seeking asylum. They cover issues such as the role of GPs, their function as gatekeepers to the health services, how to register and how to access emergency services.
